Remote and Automated Monitoring of Diet and Weight

As NIH and Microsoft grant projects, and along with Tufts University, Erallo developed a remote wireless system for capturing detailed diet intake and daily body weight of free-living individuals participating in a research study. The solution included developing a wireless Smartphone-based application for nutritional input and processing; developing a wireless digital weight scale and connectivity; and designing a detailed reporting system. Both wireless devices automatically and passively transmitted the subjects’ data to Microsoft’s Health Vault for processing and reporting.

Integrated Transdermal Alcohol Sensor and Data Analysis System

True roaming capabilities that enabled patients wearing a wireless biosensor node to roam freely outside radio coverage area (without losing data) were developed in this solution by Erallo. A miniature wireless RF data transmission platform was developed and integrated with a wrist-band ethanol transdermal biosensor, WrisTAS™ (Giner). The system platform included remote management of sensors and automatic collection, processing and transmission of data from sensors to the integrated RF transceiver chip and on to a base station.

Health Monitoring Network for PTSD & Alcohol

A network architecture and applications for deploying wireless, body-wearable sensors, with full roaming capabilities, was developed for extended monitoring of veterans for early symptoms of PTSD and alcohol abuse. Software was developed to enable the patient to roam anywhere (in natural living conditions) while wearing the three biomedical sensors that collected and transmitted physiological markers for PTSD and alcohol. Conducted with VA Medical Center, Providence, RI.

Wireless Devices for At-risk Children

A handheld device (Smartphone), paired with a wireless digital scale, was developed to solve problems with a manual data collection system for the WHO’s Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) program in India. The combination of simple electronic devices and easy to use application eliminated manual intervention, data tampering, and time-consuming manual data transfer. Weight is automatically captured and wirelessly transmitted to the handheld device. A multi-lingual form with a ‘point and click’ option is displayed to collect secondary data on the child and their health. Data is then automatically processed and transmitted to a central database server.
